In September 2021, my husband and I voyaged to the Dominican Republic for our anniversary, where we were transported to paradise at Secrets Cap Cana.

We opted for the Preferred Club Junior Suite Tropical View, and let me tell you; it exceeded our expectations in every way. First off, despite its name, the room actually offered a fantastic pool view, and if you looked closely, you could catch a glimpse of the sparkling ocean in the background. One of the highlights of our suite was the indulgent soaking tub on the balcony. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration and enjoy a quiet moment in the lap of luxury.


Now, let's talk about the Preferred Club experience. Trust me when I say, it's worth every penny. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs. The Preferred Club beach areas were exclusive and offered a tranquil escape from the crowds. The pool reserved for Preferred Club guests was equally inviting, providing a serene oasis to bask in the sun or take a refreshing dip. And let's not forget about the exclusive restaurant dedicated to Preferred Club members. The delectable cuisine and attentive service made each dining experience a delight.


Oh, and here's a bonus perk: as Preferred Club guests, we received a 15% discount on spa treatments. Treating ourselves to a pampering session at the luxurious spa was an absolute must.

The staff at Secrets Cap Cana truly knows how to make guests feel like royalty, and we felt absolutely pampered from beginning to end. The high level of service we experienced is one of the many reasons why we can't wait to return to this slice of paradise.


What truly elevated our stay was the inclusion of butler service with the Preferred Club. Our butler was a true gem, going above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. He checked on us regularly, making sure we had everything we desired. On our anniversary, he arranged a romantic beachside dinner that left us breathless. And when we expressed an interest in trying the hibachi restaurant, he took care of all the dinner reservations. It was the little things like these that made our stay truly extraordinary.


No hassle, no stress – just seamless service that allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the joy of our vacation.


Amenities & Experiences

My favorite thing about Secrets Cap Can was the entertainment. From daytime parties to nighttime shows, there was always something exciting happening. We danced the night away at Latin night and had a blast at the Reggae Party. The shows were equally impressive, with themes like Disco/70s, Chicago, Pop Icons, and live music in the lobby. Each performance was a feast for the senses.


When it came to activities, Secrets Cap Cana had it all. We took advantage of the non-motorized watersports available, including kayaking, hobie cats, and paddleboarding. There were bike tours, yoga classes, painting sessions, surf yoga, and even pool and beach volleyball tournaments. We also enjoyed snorkeling right at the resort and exploring the vibrant underwater world.


One of the highlights of our stay was indulging in the spa. We treated ourselves to couples' massages and pampered ourselves with hydrotherapy, which included a sauna, steam room, dynamic pool, and plunge pool. It was the perfect way to unwind and relax, especially on our anniversary.


Pro tip: You can rent Balinese Beds for the day on the beach, which is a great way to lounge in style and soak up the sun. And if you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply want a romantic experience, consider booking a beachside candlelit dinner for an additional cost.


While the resort itself had so much to offer, we also ventured off-site to experience Punta Cana. I went on an incredible scuba diving adventure with SeaPro Divers, exploring the underwater wonders of the area. We also embarked on an ATV tour through Renny Travel, a preferred vendor I trust for all my clients. The tour allowed us to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings and discover hidden gems. If you're up for even more adventures, there are plenty of options in the area. You can visit Saona Island or Catalina Island, go whale watching, try your hand at deep-sea fishing, take a Santo Domingo City Tour, or experience the world-famous Coco Bongo Disco Show. And let's not forget the golf enthusiasts—there are fantastic golf courses nearby to satisfy your passion.


All in all, the amenities and experiences at Secrets Cap Cana were extensive and exciting! From the lively entertainment to the array of activities, our vacation never had a dull moment. Whether you're seeking relaxation, excitement, or a mix of both, this resort has it all.


Food & Drink

When it comes to the culinary delights at the resort, several standout restaurants became our favorites during our stay.


Let's start with Rosewater, the Preferred Club restaurant. We fell in love with their breakfast options and found ourselves returning every morning. The array of dishes was impressive, from delectable pastries to made-to-order omelets that satisfied our cravings. Another gem was Bordeaux, the French restaurant. We discovered a new favorite house chardonnay here, which perfectly complemented our meal. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was a delight, with its succulent flavors and impeccable presentation. We also indulged in escargots, which were a true delicacy, and savored the rich and velvety Crème Brulée for dessert. Portofino, the Italian restaurant, left a lasting impression as well. We couldn't resist their lasagna, which was a true comfort food delight. The layers of pasta, cheese, and flavorful sauce created a symphony of taste that had us coming back for more.


One thing we truly appreciated was the availability of 24-hour room service. It was perfect for those late-night cravings or simply enjoying a quiet meal in the comfort of our own suite. The variety of options and prompt service made the room service a convenient and enjoyable dining experience.


Final Thoughts

Overall, we found Secrets Cap Cana to be the perfect sojourn from our everyday life. The luxury adornments, abundance of activities, and unimpeachably excellent service make this an ideal resort for travelers seeking the best in the Dominican Republic.
